...just took a fast look,I can sure relate to Irish Bob Murphy. We have a few copies of the Murphy-Jake Lamotta II at the Olympic in Detroit June 11,1952.My uncle Allen Rosenfeld wrote it up for Boxing Illustrated.I think he's seated in the second row, somewhere. The fight's been on ESPN classic, several times.I think Murphy stopped Lamotta in their first fight at 175.In their rematch,Lamotta was in shape-and shows that any boy who thinks he was just some kind of hard headed tough guy, doesn't know what he's talking about. He was very smart;he fought over 2o times in Detroit, including several with SRRobinson-and Laurent Dautville, whom he kayoed in the last 10 seconds of the fight after playing possum. If I remember right,LaMotta had a rough time making weight for the fight, which was a factor in the beating Robinson gave him in the ST.Valentines Day Massacre in 1951,in which Robinson won the middleweight title.
