"Pretty Boy" Floyd Maweather vs Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton

The upcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this Saturday, December 8th, has the potential to be a spectacular fight. HBO is comparing it to:1. Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed and 2. Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard 1. So the expectation is high. Hatton's only real chance to win is to make this fight a a battle of attrition. He can't out box Mayeather, and he can't out speed him either, but he can out fight him if he can control the tempo and dictate where in the ring the fight takes place, and he has to keep throwing punches, especially the body shots. He has a punchers chance. I know I'm stating the obvious but really what else is he to do. He didn't look all that great when he fought Luis Collazao in May of 2006. Luis somewhat took Hatton to school and exposed some flaws. If Hatton learned from that fight he just might win.

In some ways the burden is on Mayweather. He knows that fight fans are tired of his Pernell Whitaker, safety first style of fighting, and he will be pushed to fight up close at some point. Mayweather is supremely confidant and if he takes Hatton lightly it may cost him. From a technical standpoint you have to favor Mayweather. I have always been a sucker for the underdog, especially one with a punch and big heart. I'll be rooting for Hatton.

..nothing much to add, other than,I wish this fight weren't in Vegas, where I expect to see a screwy decision,-and I don't consider either guy a great welter...assuming Hatton gets better judges than the seeing eye dogs who judged Mayweather-CastilloI,Hatton could go back to England bigger than Winston Churchill. So far,I've only seen him against Collazo, where neither his punch or pressure had any serious effect...I'm assuming Mayweather-and I hope I'm wrong.
